Marine Plywood is a good material for small sailboats. Easy to use and inexpensive compared to wood. This is also available in most regions, where wood species may only be available in areas where they grow native. If a species is available outside the area where it grows original, there may be a steep premium on it.
Marine Plywood are many pieces of veneer, or thin strips or wood, which are glued on top of each other. It is important that you buy sea level plywood as opposed to standard plywood because of the quality and waterproof glue used.
